Devolution of power to the South West?…

You may have seen recent news coverage reporting the devolution of some elements of central power to Cornwall. A similar, but further reaching proposal, is currently being prepared jointly by nineteen South West authorities for presentation to central government. 

The potential scope of devolved powers includes healthcare, infrastructure, housing and planning, employment and skills, business support and general governance.

Dorset CC approves land fill site in AONB overlooking Uplyme Parish and Harcombe?
In a contentious decision on 9th May, just three Members of the Dorset County Council Planning Committee made the decision to approve an application for an inert material landfill site on the Lyme Regis Golf Club driving range. This hilltop site dominates the neighbouring East Devon AONB, and the east of Uplyme Parish in the beautiful Harcombe Valley.
The decision to approve was contrary to the professional report and recommendation of Dorset County Planning Officers

East Devon Local Plan – new hearings in Oct/Nov…?

Further to my June article, there has been a further exchange between East Devon District Council and Inspector Anthony Thickett. 

East Devon has produced a draft timetable for work to move the Local Plan to conclusion. Of particular interest to us, is the duty to co-operate with neighbours West Dorset. The letter suggested the production of joint working/ report aiming for:
